Nivia.

This pretty girl is my friend Nivia.

You can check some of her shots and read a bit more about my photographic experience with her in THIS PAGE. :D

Hope you like it! :)

The world is but a canvas to the imagination.

I have always said that you can’t only take a photograph, photographs have to be made. Great many people are not even worried about focusing when photographing that’s why everybody asks us to simply take pictures. *yuck.

Another big mistake I’ve always seen is: you can’t simply look at a photograph you have to read it. (Experts also say that you read it like you are reading this post from the left to the right side starting at the top). But why on earth they keep either looking at the center and saying a loud ‘wooow’ or making strange faces when they don’t see a model posing, a landscape or flowers? *yuck.again

However, I’m not writing it to talk about narrow-minded people, whose imagination is beyond their minds. I’m writing to tell exactly about the other group: The ones who are able to interpret!

Since high school and along all my university courses we were exposed to a great variety of authors and we were always supposed to give our interpretations, as well as we often heard those people saying “In my opinion, what the author means is bla-bla-bla”. It is a fact that it’s impossible to imagine what does an author mean while writing a book, a poem or when choosing a metaphor due to historical reasons, personal reasons or personal thoughts.

The coolest part in photographing conceptual pictures is: I’m the author. And whenever I show someone a picture and ask what can they see or feel while reading that photo I come across the most absolutely different impressions which I have never imagined to suit that image.

As to keep them neutral I never tell the real meaning I had while composing the pictures and at that time it’s my turn to say the loud ‘wow’!

by Me.

Since I got into the digital photography world I’ve lost my connection with printed images, except from those I take with my friends and get, most of them, printed to my bedroom’s magnetic notice board.

Last June I had this adhesive photography of a diptych I made of my cat Beth and a couple of vases with dried flowers printed for my mom’s birthday. We had that magnetic surface painted and I did think the yellow and blue thing just fit as a glove with the couch, the photo’s colours and with the whole room.

My mom was pretty happy with the present and I was very proud of seeing my sizeable photo hanging on the TV room. :)

Digital Era.

If there’s a thing I regret for digital cameras are the films. I had this experience on working with films while I was at University (I was doing my Languages and Literature course, but I attended this one-term-course at the Arts Institute in 2004) it was a really short experience with black and white film but it was enough to me for completely and forever fall in love with the darkroom…. I haven’t truly learned many techniques during the course (besides dealing with and printing in the photographic paper) but as it was my first contact with the camera I was pretty satisfied with my final project.

Here you have my scanned shots from the Final Project which were taken with a NikonFM10 .

The Red Rabbit.

My photographic side is always going through these phases that are totally beyond my control. Last week I got the Texture-Bug and everything I could possibly think about was completely texturized photographs.

I have always had this thing for Strawberries and now I’m such in a Red-Phase that all the red things that surround me are jumping to my eyes and calling for my camera.

Introduction.

Hi there.

This is my first attempt to create a blog related to my photography hobbie. I’m also giving WordPress a try.. I’ve been using blogger for a while and I’m not really into it anymore.

I don’t really know how long I’ll keep this blog and if it’ll be a nice experience. I’m desperate in love with my new camera and I want to spread its pictures all over the Internet. I’m kinda aware of the possibility of 1 or 2 guests a month but, as I said, let’s give it a try.

If you are a visitor I’d looove you to drop me a line to say hi and put a smile on my face.

If you feel this post like a ‘Welcome to the jungle’ thing, as they say… Take this piece of advice: The Jungle here is gonna be way weirder than you are used to. ;)
